Have you ever seen a live alpaca? Did you know that there is an alpaca farm in Noblesville? If you join us on November 7th, you’ll not only get to tour the farm and meet these delightful creatures, you will learn about them from one of the owners of the farm, who thoroughly delighted the Mensa group earlier this year with stories and many “things we didn’t know about alpacas.” After your visit, you’ll be telling your family and friends about it endlessly. Please reserve your spot early – the farm can accommodate only 20 to 30 people at a time. We’ll see you then!
If you are a Mensa member (you have a membership card), we have a special event for you immediately after the Alpaca Farm event that you won’t want to miss. More information should be coming in the mail soon.

Several years ago our group enjoyed an adventure visiting cats. Really BIG cats! Come see over 200 cats representing nine species and get close, REALLY close. This is not a zoo, but a rescue center.
We have an amazing day planned for you to see lions and tigers and friends (I hope you can bear it!). on Saturday, April 16th. If the weather doesn’t cooperate (we’ll know by Friday), we have a rain date of Saturday, April 23rd.

INDIANA MEDICAL HISTORY MUSEUM & MEDICINAL PLANT GARDEN TOUR
On Saturday, June 4, you are invited to join Mensa Youth for a tour of the Indiana Medical History Museum and its gardens. If you’ve not visited the museum, you’ll be fascinated to see medicine as it was practiced in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The museum is housed in the Old Pathology Building, which begins our tour. It’s a nineteen-room building constructed in 1896 on the grounds of the Central Hospital for the Insane. The building includes three clinical laboratories and a photography laboratory which were used to support study and research on the physical causes of mental disease.
The Medicinal Plant Garden offers the opportunity to remember that plants were the original source of most medicines. A local master gardener will lead our tour and we are assured that the plants will be at their peak during our visit. The museum is located at 3045 West Vermont Street (the Old Pathology Building) and our tour will begin there at 2:00 p.m. followed by a tour of the garden from 3:15 to 4:00 p.m. Please RSVP if you would like to attend – and plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early.
Adult $10
Children (18 or younger) $3

Here are some photos from our last visit. It was a popular event, and we sold out! Be sure to RSVP right away to get a spot on this tour.

Back by popular demand, and better than ever, it’s Summer Blast! School is about to start, but you want one last blast of FUN in a seriously smart way. We have the perfect getaway for your bright friends and family! Join us on a private family beach in Plymouth, IN as we camp in tents on the scenic bank of Pretty Lake (Yes, that’s the real name of the lake!)
In 2015 we launched our first Family Regional Gathering and combined it with our long-running Summer Blast. Plymouth, IN is an ideal location to host a Family RG because of its close proximity to Chicago, Southern Michigan, Fort Wayne, IN, and even Wisconsin. If you want a true Mensa experience for your family, this is a great event to attend!
Activities include: Sailing lessons, canoeing, rowboat, swimming, tubing, fishing (bring your own gear and bait), smores and drama improv at the beach campfire on Friday night, nature hikes, outdoor games, outdoor science experiments, and PLENTY of hang-out time with fun, smart people!
Bring your own tent, tarp, sleeping bag, pillow, swimming gear, towel, lawn chairs, camera, fishing gear (optional – if you want to do catch and release fishing), change of clothes, snacks (if you want), and sunscreen. Cost is only $20 per person to cover food.
